Terry, Griffin, Elle, and Nikki at a Buckeyes game. Elle and Griff for Halloween. Guess which family members these are. My birthday in September, I blew out all the candles in one breath.
Yesterday we went to "Happy Hour" here at the resort. Since we didn't see anyone we had already met, we sat with a couple from Alberta, Canada and another couple from Vancouver, Canada. We all had a really good time talking and laughing. Both those couples are renting park models here, so they invited us to play cards after dinner. We played Sequence, guys against the girls, the girls only won 1 game, the guys always got all the Jacks.
The park is pretty empty right now, but it really fills up at the beginning of January. It is quiet here now.
H and I went out to walk Hobbes and he started talking to the Canadian farmer across from us, He hasn't come back yet. But he does like to talk!
Some pics taken on the way to Yuma. Hobbes in his favorite position while traveling.
We made it to Yuma about 5PM, thinking we would get set before dark. Well, when we got to the site, H noticed that the rear tire on the 5th wheel was about flat, the tread had separated. H backed it in to the space but we didn't want to level and put out the slides until the tire was changed. We called Emergency Road Service, they said someone would be here in 45 minutes, it was really 1 and 1/2 hours. While we were waiting we did all we could to get ready, getting out all the cords and hoses, etc. We did meet the neighbors when the truck with all the flashing lights showed up. So after the tire was changed, it was dark, setting up in the dark requires flashlights and faith that what you are seeing is correct. We finished the set up today( sewer connections, getting the grill out and lights up. Now we are all comfy, except the ground is too hard to put the awning anchors in. Hope the wind doesn't kick up before we can get them in.
We are in Texas, about 200 miles from El Paso. Last night we were in Boerne, TX. We were going to stop about 2PM yesterday, but as were turned from 1604 onto I-10 north of San Antonio, the road was completely closed. They routed everyone off onto a frontage road , one lane. It took about an hour to go a little over 2 miles. They are doing road construction. This AM as were about to get on I-10, 2 very large, slow moving, oversized trucks with 3 patrol cars with them, were getting off I-10. They needed to make a turn which took a long time. Oh well, I guess that is why we are retired, so we don't have to hurry anywhere.
We are definitely moving slower than last year, Hobbes and I both don't like being in the truck too long. He has improved this year, though. He now knows that he needs to use the litter box at some time during the day, and lets me know by meowing continuously until we stop and let him in Moose(the 5th wheel). But he doesn't want to eat cat food while we are traveling, he thinks people food is his right.
Some pictures from the beach area, we ate lunch while reading at the beach on Sunday. The rest of these pictures are sculptures that have been carved from the dead trees post Hurricane Katrina. This one they are just starting, not sure what it will be. These are all along Highway 90, Beach Blvd.
My last entry published before I was done. These pictures indicate why we keep family hidden. Just kidding. The pictures are of Todd and his family, Jen (wife), Sam (daughter), Doug and Matt (sons). Can you guess which ones are the boys?
