Home

We made it home safely, not fond of the cool weather, but good to be home. 5 days on the road is too much. We set up the fifth wheel and put Hobbes in, then went to Mom's house, my sister and her husband were there. When we came back home, I opened the door to the fifth wheel and Hobbes jumped out. He didn't jump all winter, waits until we get home, then does it. I guess he just wanted to see how home looked. I caught him right away, just got some mud on his paws.
Tomorrow the work begins, get the house up and running, then start at Mom's.

Almost Home

We are spending the night in Carrollton, KY Walmart parking lot. No campgrounds around this area that were open. Surprisingly warm today, but will be cool tonight. Hobbes will be so glad to get home. He hates it every morning when we put him in the truck, meows for several miles, then settles down because he knows he can't do anything about it.

Mississippi

We are on our way home, last night we stayed in Sam's Club parking lot in Beaumont, TX, we had hail, heavy rain, then the winds picked up. Some of the gusts were so bad I jumped out of bed. When we got up this AM, the sun was out but very cool, only 45 degrees.
The drive today was pleasant but long. It was sunny, windy but not bad enough to be a problem. Tonight we are staying in a State Park in MS, way back off the main road. Beautiful lake surrounded by cabins and campsites. Only $14.00 a night with full hook-up.

We went back to Rt. 49 to find a restaurant, guess what. Barbecue, big surprise in Mississippi. But it was really good.

Mom, Grandma, GG

I received a phone call from my brother-in-law today, Mom had a heart attack while shopping and did not survive. She was 88 years old, lived a full, long life and went out the way she wanted, quickly. They never were able to get a pulse during resuscitation efforts. This is Mom with our grandchildren, they called her GG. This was taken in 2007 when we had a get together for Christmas.

Trip to Round Rock.

Hard life of a cat(well at least this cat)
We went to Round Rock, north of Austin, yesterday to visit with Michelle(my neice) and family. This is Aden and Azul having a little fun.
Hal is always ready to play games, giant Frisbee this time.
Clockwise, Carlos, Michelle, Aden, and Azul. We visited, played Marbles, cards, and ate. Michelle and Carlos made an excellent dinner, we ate outside in the warmth of a Texan evening. We are hoping that they can come down to New Braunfels to see us before we leave, the girls can swim, ride bikes and play some more games.

Change of Plans

Guess what, we are not going to San Marcos. Spring break is going on in the area, so many families are camping, no sites available in San Marcos. When we left Fredericksberg this AM, I started calling, first the park we stayed at last year, then all others. Finally found one in New Braunfels, Hill Country RV Resort, we like it so we are staying our 2 weeks here. Hobbes is glad, I don't think he wanted another day in the truck.

Fun!

Today we spent 1 1/2 hours waiting for a service truck to change our tire. This is the last of the original tires, one went flat in Yuma, trad separation, then this blowout today. Keystone Montana must put cheap tires on their rigs, this tire had only about 12,000 miles on it.
Now Monday night was more fun, we stayed in Benson, AZ, Butterfield RV Resort has an observatory, we spent an hour last PM watching the stars, we saw the comet fading, won't be back for a thousand years, we also saw many groupings of stars and Saturn.

Imperial Wildlife Refuge

We went for a drive today to look at wild flowers, ended up going to this wild life refuge.

Yuma area had more rain than usual this winter, so the desert is blooming this spring. Flowers just spring up among the rocks along the roads, it is beautiful to drive anywhere.

This is the landscaping by the visitors center.

" Digger" is a desert tortoise.

Seal Pup

Vicky, a neighbor here in Yuma, sent me these pics of the first rescued pup of the season. She volunteers for seal rescue in Oregon.

Preparations

H has been busy getting Moose ready for our trip back, he spent all day Tuesday washing our home. I rinsed and then washed windows, but I won't climb on the top to wash it. Today he is lubricating the slide mechanisms and the seals. Then we have to clean out the basement, sweep and put everything in order for travel. We are starting early so we don't have to do everything at the end. The resort is beginning to thin out, always a few people coming in, but more are leaving. It was so warm for a few days I was wondering whether we stayed too long, but it was just unusual weather. Today is perfect, it is 70 degrees at 1230, just the way I like it.

H won at bingo again last week, that is his second win, not a lot of money but he likes to win. Yesterday he shot pool and played cards the rest of the day, while I had a manicure and pedicure, then went grocery shopping. It is a hard life!!

New Puzzle

This is a 1000 piece puzzle that measures 16.5 x 11.5 inches, the pieces are really tiny. H finally got it put together, it took him most of the week. Nikki sent it to him as a birthday present, we are going to return it to her to put together.
