Puzzle Time

Nikki sent H jigsaw puzzles for his Birthday, this is a thousand piece, he put together in 3 1/2 days.
Completed puzzle, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Bob (brother-in-law), sent these pics of snow in Ohio, the snow is beautiful, just wouldn't want to be there.
Nothing more beautiful than undisturbed snow.

It is going to be another beautiful sunny day, again, here in the southwest, should be in the high 70s.

Yum-Yum

This is the first time ever I have made a Butterscotch Meringue Pie. This is H's favorite and his birthday is tomorrow, so I called every bakery in Yuma, no one makes Butterscotch Pie. I went on line and found a recipe, I hope it tastes as good as it looks. Actually I almost never make any kind of pie.

Happy Birthday to H tomorrow, he will be 67, but does not look it.

More People

More RVs arrived over the weekend, leaving very few empty spaces here in the park. Of course it cuts down the view, but we can still see the foothills, which is why we like it here.
Another view to the west.
Our friends did not make it here over the weekend due to truck problems. We did go see the play on Friday night, which was very good, for a local production they do it really well. On Saturday we went to the Lettuce Days Festival, got some veggies to bring home. On Sunday afternoon we took in a movie, then enjoyed the sun and played some Buckeye Rummy with a neighbor.
Today is windy and cool, temp is 64 degrees at almost 2PM. We are to have 3 days in the 60s, then it will warm up. Even with the wind and cooler temps, the sun is still out bright. It makes one almost forget that Ohio has very few sunny days. I am soaking up as much as I can, so I can withstand the days in Ohio when it is dreary.

Sprinkles in Yuma

Missing our grandchildren, aren't they cute?

Just to let everyone know, we do get precipitation here in Yuma, it sprinkled during the night and is partly cloudy today. Temps a little cooler, only 76 today. We were glad, because we were cleaning today.

H went to the Arizona Market (flea market) to look for some Totally Awesome, a cleaner our neigbor gave us to try, it takes the bugs off the front of Moose as if they were never there. At least that should keep the RV washers from stopping every time they go by, to see if they can wash it for us.

Tonight we are going to see a local production of "South Pacific" put on by the Yuma Community Theater. We saw 'Oliver" which was really good. Our friends from California may be coming to Yuma tonight or in the AM, they will call later to let us know. They are having truck problems, so it depends on when the repairs are done.

H gave Hobbes a trim today, the hair on his neck just seemed to always be getting in his way, so H trimmed it a little.

Spruce up the Moose

For the Ohio people, the sun will come out tomorrow, and warmer temps will follow. Nikki called this AM to let me know it was -14 degrees this Morning at 0800. So glad I am not there, it was 80 degrees here in Yuma yesterday and is 73 degrees now at 1125. Today is beautiful and bright sun with very blue skies. The weather forecasters really work to make the forecasts sound different each day, though it is almost always sunny and warm. Today we may go back to the flea market, we want to get another mat to put in front of the Moose, we got one last week, but underestimated the length of the concrete pad. Above is a picture of the mat.

The Old West

One of the actors, getting a drink of water.
More.
One of the cells in the old prison.
The only young, good looking actor I saw.
A view from the guardhouse down toward the Colorado River.

Yesterday (Sunday) we went to the Yuma Territorial Prison, they were doing re-enactments of gunfights that took place in the old west. They all had to wear old style clothing that had to be appropriate for the time period. Groups put on these small plays that had to fit in a time limit, always ended with a shoot-out. I took a few pics but it was impossible to get any good ones of the plays due to the bright sun.

More Kauai Pics

Turtle entering the water, this is the turtle that Nikki and Elle swam along side, Elle said the turtle touched her with his foot or flipper(whatever it is called.)
Elle taking a surf lesson.
She is up on the board, which is more than I would ever be able to do.

We have been back from Kauai for 1 1/2 weeks, Hobbes was, of course, glad to see us. We have been letting him sit outside in the daytime when the sun is out nice and warm. It gets cool here at night, but usually warm in the daytime, we had a few days in the 60's, but who cares, it is better than Ohio temps.

Today I did laundry and H and I washed windows. the Moose really needs washed, but H doesn't want to pay for it to be done, and we cannot wash it on site here because of water use. There are many businesses that come around to wash RVs, they bring there own water. Because our Moose is dirty, they stop here every time to ask if we want it washed. Maybe I can talk H into letting one of them wash it, or I will just wait until he isn't here and have it done.

We went to the flea market today, got a mat for the area in front of Moose and a new flag to put out front. We will try to get to Mexico next week.

Happy New Year!

This is a shot on the island of Kauai. Yes, there are palms in Yuma, but they just don't sway as nice as in Kauai.

Beginning of a new year always brings with it the promise of new actions. We will start on Monday to find a place to volunteer here in Yuma. There are always lots of places that need help, but it is important to find a good fit. We are not quite sure what we want to do, but know we want to do something.

Today is beautiful again, starts out cool, but, the sun is always shining and it is 74 degrees at 1PM. We just went for a bike ride looking for the Browns who arrived yesterday, found their Montana, but they were not home. Hope to see them later.
