North Wind

Today we woke up about 0500 to hear the wind really blowing, it was upsetting Hobbes, who wanted to sleep between us. It continued to blow all day. Only consolation is that the sun was out brilliantly all day, even though the temp never made it out of the 60's. Well tomorrow will be warmer and no wind(I hope).

H spent the day washing awnings and getting things done he has been telling me he was going to do all week. But he has read 3 books!! Next week we will be in Biloxi, so no extra book reading, we usually work so hard all day that we are too tired for anything else. But H always has time to play cards if there are any card players available.

Squirrel

We have a squirrel outside Moose, H bought peanuts and has been feeding him daily. He has come up on the steps with Hobbes just inside the screen door watching him. Today he was attempting to get the peanuts, very bold for the little guy. Reminds me a squirrel we had in Columbus that would come to the back door and scratch until we opened it. He would sit on the door sill and eat from our hands.

Home Maintenance

This picture didn't turn out as good as I wanted, it is actually small fish in the water near end of pier. Water was really clear today.
The above picture is of a barge and tugboat that went all the down the sound one way then turned around and came back!?
This picture just looks back at our campground from the pier. I like looking at it.
Today was even more beautiful than yesterday. Sunny and warm, about 78 degrees. H worked on our home. The parts that were supposed to be in Ohio for repairs on Moose on 10/29/07 just arrived yesterday. Today H put them on. Regulator for 2nd propane tank and wire guard for under one of the slides. The wire guard took the longest because he had to drill new holes and put up a new metal piece to hold it. Always maintenance no matter where you live. Of course I told H this AM that the inside I would take care of, and the outside was his. That way I didn't feel guilty going down to the beach to read and sun while he worked.

Veteran's Day

Today was the official Veteran's Day, special ceremonies, parades to recognise veterans, free meals at restaurant's for them. Hopefully you took the time some time this weekend or today to remember what our veterans did and current soldiers are doing to keep us safe. We encountered a group today raising money to send Christmas gifts to the soldiers overseas. Also someone sent me an e-mail with this address for Christmas cards to be sent :

Biking

Today we went biking on the outer island, what you see in the pictures above and below is work still being done to the road after a hurricane. Not sure if this damage is from Ivan or Katrina. The road did go from the bridge in Navarre down to the Gulf Seashore Preserve. We went past where it is blocked from motor vehicles, had to walk bikes over some areas of sand and finally stopped when we could no longer see any roadway.

We biked further than we have in a long time. I'm sure my legs will be a little sore tonight. Time for the hot tub.

Blue Angels

Today we went to Pennsacola Naval Base to see the air show. This is the Blue Angels home base, so in the fall at the end of their show season they come back here for a free show. Of course they were spectacular. But you can't help but think what if something goes wrong when they are over your head. They were loud(earplugs come in handy) and very colorful. Not just the Angels but the other planes, too.
It was a beautiful, sunny day, just the right day for a show like this!!
