Summer is Ending

Cross Country

Elle running cross country, junior high.
She came in fifth on her team and her team got 3rd. Time 15:55, not bad for first race.

Race day was very warm and humid, I'm sure I wouldn't want to be running.

Today it is raining, so nice to have temps only in the 60's instead of 90's. Maybe it will be cool for tomorrow's cross country meet.

Labor Day!

H put together the puzzle from the San Diego Zoo! I helped a little.

Pam, if you are wondering why he has not done the puzzle you gave him, it is too big for our table. I want him to get a piece of plywood and place it over the table in the house, and work on it there. Maybe that is what we will do today, get the plywood. We also need a dehumidifier, the one in the basement gave out, it was 19 years old.

Puzzling

Todd, Jen, Samantha, Doug, and Matt camped at Finley State Park a couple weeks ago. That is not far from us, so Nikki and family and GG, H, and I went up to see them. The kids always have fun together. I don't get too many pictures of them all together at one time, so this was special.

H has been working at several jobs this summer, he has been working part time inspecting a construction job, mowing Nikki's yard, and painting at his previous boss's office. I have been volunteering at the Ashland Christian Health Clinic, which has low cost or free (4 hours volunteer work) health care for persons without health insurance. I started doing this last year and really enjoy it. With so many people having lost jobs due to the economy, this is really needed in the community.

45th Class Reunion

Saturday was Mapleton H.S. 45th class reunion, we had it at the Pump House Grill in Ashland. We only had 17 members return out of 55, but 5 are deceased. We did have 1 classmate that had never been to a reunion before, and several that had not been for a few times. We all had a lot of catching up to do, 5 years each time in a big time span.
Next time will be our 50th, we are hoping that everyone will make an extra effort to return for that.

Tired of Mowing

We are only partway thru summer and I am already tired of the routine of mowing the yards. It is usually too hot to be out there all day. The good thing is I am getting a tan.
H saw a snake up in a tree, now I keep thinking one is going to fall on me when I go under them. I don't mind snakes as long as they are on the ground and I am on the mower. I didn't know we had any tree climbing snakes in Ohio. I will have to look them up to see what kind it is.

Heel Spur

I have been having problems with my left foot since February, the heel hurt, then the area behind my knee started hurting, so I must have been walking to protect my heel. I have been taking lots of Ibuprofen to help with the pain. Yesterday I went to the podiatrist(foot doctor), x-ray shows I have a large heel spur with inflammation of my tendon. First they brought in all these pamphlets on freezing the nerves, surgery, and shock waves to break the spur. I opted for conservative treatment, so they put a cortisone injection in my heel. OUCH!! But I must say the foot feels better today. But I don't, I couldn't sleep last night at all, I was up and down so many times, I finally went to sofa to watch TV. Nothing on at night.
It is now AM, I still don't feel sleepy. So the 4th will be a long day.
